Citroen recalls C3 Aircross, C3, C4 and C4X cars over fire risk from water getting into the starter alternator
There is too little space (under 10 mm) between the petrol particulate filter tube and the terminal cap of the 48 V belt-driven starter alternator, so in wet conditions water can get in, cause an electric arc and start a fire.

- Citroen
- Hazard
- There is insufficient clearance (< 10 mm), between the tube of the petrol particulate filter and the terminal protection cap of the 48 V belt-driven starter alternator. In wet conditions, the insufficient clearance and contact between these components can lead to water infiltration, causing an electric arc which may trigger a thermal event, such as overheating. There is a risk of fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
