Toyota recalls replacement rear lights for bZ4X over missing side marker lights
Some replacement rear light assemblies for the Toyota bZ4X have a side marker reflector instead of a side marker light, which could make the vehicle hard for other drivers to see and raise crash risk.

- Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain rear combination light assemblies, with part numbers 81561-42290 and 81551-42290, sold as replacement parts for Toyota bZ4X vehicles. The rear combination light assemblies may be equipped with a side marker reflector instead of a side marker light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
- Consequence
- Without the correct lights, it may be difficult for other road users to see the vehicle from the rear or side, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Corrective action
- Dealers will inspect and replace the rear combination light assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 13, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TK01 and 26TH01.
