Joyson recalls replacement side curtain air bags for 2016–2023 Toyota Tacoma over improper deployment risk

The side curtain air bag may not have been properly secured to its mounting bracket, so it could deploy improperly and raise the risk of injury in a crash.

What to do

Dealers will inspect and replace the side curtain air bag assemblies as needed, free of charge. Owners may call Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 and should cite recall numbers 26TK02 and 26TH02.

Defect
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain side curtain air bag (CSA) assemblies sold as replacement parts for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma vehicles. The side curtain air bag may have been improperly secured to its mounting bracket, causing an improper air bag deployment.
Consequence
Improper air bag deployment can increase the risk of injury during a crash.
Corrective action
Dealers will inspect and replace the CSA assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed September 28, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated by Quarter 4 of 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TK02 and 26TH02.
